Types of Stomatitis: Traumatic Stomatitis
Traumatic stomatitis, is presented with an injury or inflammation, usually a central ulcer, with or without pus, accompanied by pain. There are several causes: the cheek biting, biting of the tongue or lips, teeth brushing intense, injuries caused by dentures or orthodontic appliances, food burns very hot, chewing snuff, hypersensitivity to certain foods, radiation due to receive treatment for cancer, or have immune system diseases such as lupus or Crohn’s disease.
Treatment:
- Drink plenty of water.
- Rinse your mouth with salt water.
- Maintaining good oral hygiene.
- Avoid hot beverages and foods. Avoid salty, spicy or citrus.
- In the case of burns, rinsing the mouth with cool water and eat popsicles.
- Use pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
- To alleviate ulcers, apply Blistex or Campho-Phenique may be obtained without prescription.
