Blepharoptosis: a condition that causes the upper eyelid fall. The lid covers most of the eye and blocks vision considerably. It may be congenital, hereditary or acquired and is caused by interference in the muscles that lift the eye. There are several types of surgery for blepharoptosis. The most appropriate procedure depends on the strength of the muscle that lifts the eyelid. But the goal is to rearrange the eyelid and restore vision to normal.

They are generally simple and inexpensive procedures are performed under local anesthesia.

Entropion: occurs when the lower eyelid and eyelashes are reversed. This is due to a relaxation of the eyelid tissue over time. The problem is that the eyelid and lashes are constantly rubbing against the cornea, causing the feeling that there is garbage in the eye. It also causes excessive tearing, red eyes and pus outbreak that overall, obstruct vision. If not treated early, Entropion can cause infection and damage to the cornea. Treatment requires a local outpatient surgery and anesthesia. Several surgical techniques are used to adjust and rearrange the eyelid. Once surgery is performed, the eyelid fails to irritate the cornea. This relieves the redness, tearing and sensation in the eye.

Ectropion: is an abnormality in the lower eyelid turns outwards and loses contact with the eye. That afflicts older adults, because the lid margin becomes loose over time. Although it is a common disease in older patients, may also be the result of trauma, burns and skin cancer. You can also occur after facial paralysis and can be aggravated by excessive tearing caused the patient, this further separates eyelid. Symptoms of ectropion include: tearing abundant, eyelid margin crusting, pus, infection and low vision. When exposed the area of the eye becomes dry, red and inflamed. And consequently, the eye is damaged. Treatment can consist of artificial tears and lubricating ointments to protect the cornea. Failure to respond favorably to treatment, ectropion surgery will be necessary. Blepharitis: a chronic redness, irritation and inflammation of the eyelid, which can lead to an infection around the eye. The long-term effects of blepharitis include: thinning of the lid margin, loss of eyelashes, eyelid entropion or bending inward, or separation of the eyelid ectropion, and chronic irritation of the eyes. The treatment of blepharitis involves applying hot compresses, cleaning and application of antibiotic ointment on the eyelids.
